It is hard to find all the pieces of a party - birthday or not. The themes may be difficult to coordinate. You need to think of the invitations, the cake, the napkins, tablecloth, favors, cups, plates, goody bags, games to play, prizes, thank you cards, etc. You need drinks, snacks, decorations and whatever else you think of. Want a pinata? You'll need candy and stuff to fill it with. THEME CAKES: To make a theme cake - you will need at least a couple different sizes of cake pans - circles and squares. The square will easily become two triangles, and then you can combine shapes to get the effect you want. For a cat, one bottom round cake, a small round head, and corners of the square for ears. A curvy tail can be cut from the square. Then decorate with colors and make whiskers. You can make this into a bunny by elongating the ears, and making a small bobtail. For other characters - play with the different shapes and make cuts where needed.
