Your resume should easily put your skills out for easy view for the employers. Keep power statements and
pertinent skills (also accomplishments) bolded and bulleted - depending on how it looks.
Place your best attributes on the top left, not to the right. Make all the best information fit on the
first page as much as possible.
You should also write a cover letter - a different one for each position - which tells the hiring person
why YOU are THE ONE for the job. Don't re-hash your resume - concentrate on the skills needed for the position. You
may also opt to leave an information sheet, like a marketing brochure, when you leave your interview - to give a
summary of skills and reasons that you feel fit you for the position.
If your skills are diverse and not necessarily related - write more than
one resume that will highlite the particular skill you are trying to push. You
may include a "blurb" about other skills - but keep to a topic in any one
resume. Don't hand your engineering design resume to the technical writer
position contact - focus that resume on the writing you have done while on
your engineering design job.
